Tickets On Sale March 1

Join us for a day of garden touring as we head to the Hermann Garden Club Garden Tour on June 7 to see seven fabulous gardens. President Dan Burkholder, was so enchanted by his previous trip to the garden tour that he wanted Gardeners Connect to experience it as well.

This year is the 30th annual Hermann Garden Tour. It includes a walking tour of four gardens in downtown historic Hermann and a driving tour to three country gardens. The tour hours are 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. We plan to leave at 6:45 a.m. to get there when it starts.

We will be taking a van driven by our very own Dan Burkholder and are limiting this trip to just 14 individuals to provide ample space so register earlier to secure your seat.

Departure will be from the home of our Executive Director in Raytown, where there will be parking both in the driveway and on the cul-de-sac streets for attendees to leave their vehicles for the days adventure. We begin boarding around 6:30 a.m. with a prompt departure at 6:45 a.m. for the 3-hour journey to Hermann. There will be bathroom access before departure. We will have coffee and scones before we hit the road, so bring a travel mug.

There will be a stop in Columbia to refresh and stretch.

Once we arrive in historic Hermann, we will be visiting the four in-town gardens. Town gardens show off lovely cottage gardens hidden behind historic homes. This year they will include a traditional four-square garden, a native plant, certified wildlife habitat garden, a huge plant collector’s garden and a coffee lover’s retreat.

Attendees will have the morning to visit the four in-town gardens, peruse downtown shops and have lunch. There are a host of restaurants. You will find everything from pizza to more upscale dining to Subway.

After lunch we will all reconvene to move on to the three countryside gardens.

Country estate tour gardens tend to be larger than town gardens and have different features. This year’s gardens include a prairie and pollinator garden, an artist/garden designer’s garden, and a garden with greenhouses, a vegetable garden and more.

Hermann is quite hilly and the gardens often have narrow and steep paths and stairs. Please wear appropriate footwear and be prepared for somewhat strenuous terrain. There will be lots of walking.

We will be having dinner as a group at the end of the day at the Concert Hall and Barrel Tavern in Hermann. Click the link to find their menu.

We plan to have a quick rest stop in Columbia on our return and arrive back within the 9 p.m. hour.

Tickets for this one-day event are $129, and tickets can be purchased online beginning March 1.

The tour price includes all ground transport, garden tour entry, morning coffee and home-baked scones and afternoon cookies. All meals, including lunch and dinner, are on your own and not included in the ticket price.

Tickets are non-refundable. Tickets may be transferred to another individual. Any unused tickets may be redeemed for a donation receipt for the full value of the ticket upon request.
