10:30 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.
Must be a Gardeners Connect Member or a member of the Heartland Hosta and Shade Plant Society or their guest to attend.
This year’s Garden Party has been years in the making and we are ecstatic to have it in the garden of Greg and Eileen Pforr.
A soothing yet awe-inspiring lakeside garden draws us to this year’s annual Gardeners Connect Garden Party. Gardeners Connect is co-hosting the event with Heartland Hosta
and Shade Plant Society.
We plan to offer drinks and a little nosh for when you take a break from strolling this lovely garden. Be sure to wear sensible garden shoes.
This is a shade garden nestled among trees on a slope leading down to the shore of Riss Lake, where there are wood duck houses. The garden and lake area haven for birds of all types.
A wide, cut-rock paved and curving path draws you along, where you will find hostas, ferns, Solomon’s seal, lirope, hardy ginger and other shade plants. The color palette is cool and soothing with shades of greens. Blue-green sedges, kelly-green evergreens and hostas with chartreuse leaf edges are woven in a tapestry. A clematis here and ajuga flowers there complement the color scheme. Foliage textures play with each other.
A connoisseur’s conifer collection is tucked among the native hackberry and other trees.
